Before applying, you must determine which residency scheme you wish to apply under, depending on your personal circumstances. If you have a Malagasy spouse, you should select family reunification. If you are a retiree, you should opt for retirement residency.If you have a work contract, you should apply for employment residency. And if you wish to open a business (or if none of the other options apply to you), you should select the residency by investment program.
Before you can apply for a residence permit, you must hold a convertible visa. This is different from a regular tourist vida, because a tourist visa cannot be converted into a residence permit. If you are outside Madagascar, you must apply for a convertible visa from the closet Madagascar embassy. If you are inside Madagascar, we can help you apply for a convertible visa locally.
When you have your convertible visa, you must prepare the documents needed for your residency application. This includes a range of documents from your home country (such as birth certificate and criminal record), and documents to be procured locally in Madagascar. If you employ the help of Madagascar Invest to process your residency application, we will assist you with the procuration of all necessary documents.
When you have all the necessary documents in hand, you must submit your application to the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM). The final step of the process will be for you to show up for an appointment at the ministry of the interior to have your fingeprints taken, after which the residence permit will be delivered.
